Spring Cottages are an excellent base for anyone who has a desire to sit and paint, either in the garden or the surrounding country side, with Cheddar Reservoir just a short walk away, along with the spectacular Cheddar Gorge all with breath taking views.

For bird watchers, there are many areas close-by where you can watch birds from the hides on the local nature reserves. For golfers, there are excellent courses in the area, all within an easy drive, eg Isle of Wedmore, Wells, Mendip and the Championship links course at Burnham & Berrow.
For our guests who prefer to forget the car and either walk or cycle, then there are many walks and cycle routes to suit everyone, from easy to difficult and all varied lengths. We have had guests who have walked, or cycled, up to 20 miles a day, rucksack, map and a good pub at the end, what more could you ask for? Your bikes can be locked safely in the barn at night, or when not in use.
You can also hire bikes from Cheddar Cycle store, see link below.

Just a stones throw from the cottage are local pubs for either a locally produced pint of beer, or glass of wine, plus good food.
At the bottom of the Gorge and in Cheddar village, just a short walk from the cottages, you will find many places to eat to suit every pallet and wallet. Treat yourself to a wonderful cream tea at Derricks, situated in the Gorge; they also make excellent light lunches and meals.

The Medieval town of Axbridge, only a few minutes drive away also offers good places to eat. The cathedral city of Wells which is about 20 minutes drive, not only offers good places to eat either during the day or evening but also makes an excellent day out.
Wookey Hole is another village worth a visit with its interesting caves and paper mill. Here too you will find good local pubs to eat and drink and then on the drive out towards the Village of Priddy, there are very good walks and cycle rides. From Priddy you can then drive down through the amazing Cheddar Gorge.
Why not treat yourself to a theatre trip whilst you are here: The Theatre Royal in Bath, The Hippodrome, Old-Vic, or Colston Hall in Bristol, Strode Theatre in Street and The Brewhouse at Taunton. All offer good entertainment.

Have you ever wanted to try a balloon flight? Are you celebrating a special occasion? Why not arrange a flight whilst you are staying here.
